**The Job Purpose of the Activities Co-ordinator is**:
To co-ordinate, plan and implement activities appropriate to clients’ needs and requests
To assist the Registered Manager to organise fundraising events.
**Key Responsibilities**:
This role is divided into two elements. The first element, you will be required to undertake the administration required for this role. The 2nd element, you will also be required to demonstrate the activities, providing social interaction with the residents. Assist residents to socialise within the care home and provide a variety of activities that cater for all tastes
**Activities**:
Undertake all the administration for activities, including production of the monthly newsletter, posters, booking of acts and booking of transport required for activities etc.
Distribute post and newspapers to residents.
Deal with resident enquiries, help to support residents or ask another Team Member to assist with the enquiry if unable to deal with this yourself
Welcome visitors/residents etc. to the home and answer telephone calls as required
Help clients to socialise within the care home and provide a diverse variety of activities that cater for all individuals
Plan and initiate monthly rolling / individual programme and encourage clients to maintain pre-existing hobbies.
Encourage Team Members, relatives and friends to participate in the care home’s activities
Accompany clients where possible, to off-site activities which may occasionally take place outside normal working hours
Help to create an atmosphere that suits individual clients within the care home
Assist with fundraising and budgeting for entertainments, materials and outings
Maintain full and accurate records of daily activities, using appropriate documentation and assist the named carer to review and update client care files
**Communication**:
Discuss the aims and objectives of recreation therapy with other Team Members
Report any changes in clients’ physical or emotional condition to the Registered Manager or person in charge
Provide comfort and company on a one-to-one basis for clients who are unable to undertake any form of activity.
Arrange / participate in staff and client meetings as and when required
**Marketing**:
Actively market the care home and promote a positive personal / professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the care home at all times
**Training and Development**:
Ensure all staff members know how to use appropriate equipment
Attend mandatory training days / courses on or off site as and when required
Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
**General**:
Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
