At **Roshni** we support Black and Minoritised victims/survivors affected by domestic abuse including Forced Marriage and Honour Based Abuse. Set up in 1979, Roshni Birmingham is a leading provider supporting Black and Minoritised communities through their journey to safety, confidence, and independence to live free from violence, abuse and fear.

An Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Certificate will be required for all roles.

**Job Purpose**
- Provide comprehensive, tailored and holistic practical and emotional support to women and children affected by domestic abuse, including domestic violence, forced marriage, honour-based abuse and female genital mutilation, while residing in the organisation's Refuge accommodation.
- Ensure the safety, protection and welfare of residents by addressing their full range of practical and emotional needs through the provision of trauma-informed services.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Create a safe, supportive, welcoming environment within the Refuge for women and children escaping abuse.
- Recognise and proactively address potential barriers to accessing services faced by residents from South Asian and other Black and minoritised communities.
- Manage the intake process, including taking referrals for Refuge accommodations as well as community outreach support services.
- Orient new residents by explaining house rules, occupancy agreements and support agreements, ensuring comprehension and having them provide signatures.
- Conduct detailed needs assessments with each resident to identify the unique practical and emotional support requirements of women and their children.
- Develop and implement individualised, holistic support plans incorporating identified needs.
- Utilise evidence-based tools like the DASH risk indicator checklist to thoroughly assess danger levels and safety risks faced by residents.
- Create and regularly update robust safety plans to mitigate risks and protect residents and their children.
- Provide direct practical assistance across a wide range of areas including housing, welfare benefits, legal matters, emotional counselling, medical needs, financial issues, etc.
- For those preparing to transition out, provide dedicated resettlement support to women and children to facilitate successful independent living.
- Make referrals and coordinate services by partnering with specialist community agencies and statutory services to ensure all needs are properly addressed.
- Produce comprehensive individual support plan documentation and conduct weekly structured keywork sessions.
- Maintain meticulous, up-to-date casework records and data in client management systems.
- Ensure any safeguarding concerns regarding children or vulnerable adults are escalated immediately to the Service Manager per protocols.
- Educate residents on their legal rights and options for protection, arrange for provision of legal counsel/advice, and accompany them to appointments.
- Provide support focused on integrating residents into their local communities to facilitate successful independent living long-term.
- As needed, accompany residents to external appointments to provide advocacy and coordination.

**Other Duties**
- Maintain the highest levels of security, confidentiality and well-being for all Refuge residents at all times.
- Control access to the Refuge facility when on duty, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
- Conduct daily checks on the proper functioning of all security systems like entry and CCTV
- Carry out regular health, fire safety and premises inspections and checks as per health and safety protocols.
- Oversee general housing management responsibilities like rent/service charge collection, arrears follow-up, property maintenance.
- Proactively promote principles of equality, empowerment and anti-discriminatory practices in all areas of work.
- Engage in continuous professional development by participating in training, supervision and performance management processes.
- Adhere strictly to all organisational policies, procedures, codes of conduct and confidentiality requirements.
- Assist in handling resident complaints and grievances under management guidance and organisational protocols.
- Undertake any other tasks or duties assigned by management that are consistent with the role.

The role requires providing intensive, culturally-competent support to address the holistic needs of domestic abuse survivors and their children while residing in the organisation's safe Refuge accommodation.
