Are you passionate about making a difference in students' lives? We're hiring a **SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health Needs) Welfare Officer** to join our dedicated team

As a SEMH Welfare Officer you will help students progress and achieve success by monitoring and supporting their attendance and performance. Arrange internal and external support, communicate with teachers, managers, and parents, and guide students to health, mental health, and emotional support services. Address child protection and PREVENT issues, and provide advice on student finance, housing, and Welfare Rights.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct one-on-one sessions focusing on attendance, target setting, and future plans.
- Attend and support annual reviews for students in Supported Learning and those with EHCPs.
- Communicate effectively with parents and address their concerns.
- Provide advice on state benefits and homelessness for young people with special educational needs.
- Recognise and refer safeguarding issues and liaise with police or social services when necessary.
- Support students in emotional distress and manage behaviour to minimize classroom disruptions.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student welfare.
- Monitor and support Children in Care, Young Adult Carers, and students with mental health needs.
- Process safeguarding information from feeder high schools promptly.
- Collect and collate accurate attendance data, following up on absences with students and parents.
