We are looking to recruit highly motivated Nursing Associates (NMC Registered) to work in the exciting and rapidly expanding Endoscopy service within Nottingham University Hospitals Trust (NUH).

This fast paced and high patient turn over area requires passionate and forward thinking staff. You must be committed to high standards of patient care and will need to demonstrate the ability to support both acutely ill and chronically ill patients.

Main duties of the job

Having excellent communication skills, along with the ability to think independently and prioritise tasks is a must.

You will be providing specialist skills, supporting the clinical teams with a wide variety of endoscopic procedures. You will work closely with a Multidisciplinary Team to care for, and support patients through the service. Specialist

Working for our organisation

We operate across the whole of NUH, at City Hospital Campus, Queens Medical Centre Campus and Nottingham Treatment Centre, next to QMC site. It is a requirement that all staff members will work across the three sites when required.

Endoscopy is currently planning to expand its service from Mon to Fri, to including weekend working. The 3 sites; Nottingham Treatment Centre, working from 7:30am to 9pm evenings. City and QMC units are 8am to 6pm and staff the out of hour’s On-Call. Vacancies are full time or part time dependant on service needs, with a minimum of 19 hours per week part time. You will also be expected to participate in the out of hours on call service which operates and staffed between City Hospital and QMC.

**KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

The overriding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient/ client care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

The post holder will support the registered nurse in ensuring the delivery of high quality patient/ client care upholding dignity, delivered with kindness and compassion.

Provide and monitor

**Responsibilities of the post holder**:
To work as the second nurse in a therapeutic procedure room alongside a registered nurse, either supporting the patient, or assisting the doctor during endoscopic procedures.

To work in recovery, providing a safe environment to patients following procedures in which intravenous sedation or procedures using local anaesthetic have been undertaken under the direction/ supervision of senior staff.

To be responsible for the cleaning / decontamination of endoscopic equipment in accordance with guidelines and policies.

To communicate with patients and significant others with empathy and reassurance regarding assessment, care and treatment during endoscopic procedures.

To participate in the out of hours on call service, under the direction/ supervision of senior staff.

**Communication**:
Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team in order to promote efficient patient care and maintain effective channels of communication.

Report all accidents and untoward incidents to the nurse in charge of the area and complete an incident form in accordance with Trust policy.

Maintain complete and accurate patient records ensuring that they provide a detailed account of all care provided throughout the patients stay.

Communicate with and provide support for patients’ relatives, carers and visitors.

Be aware of the need for confidentiality both within the written and spoken word and ensure correct storage of patients’ records at all times, to comply with the Information Governance Code.

Liaise with other clinical areas as necessary for the coordination of patient care and the smooth running of the ward/unit/department.

Ability to prioritise workload and work with indirect supervision whilst recognising own limitations and when to seek support.

Be prepared to attend and undertake necessary training and aware of personal development and development of specialist knowledge.
