The School Crossing Patrol Warden is responsible for ensuring the safety of children crossing the road at a designated point between specified times.

This role will be based in a vacant School Crossing Patrol location in North Tyneside. However, travelling may be required to other Capita offices or Client offices.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Ensure control of and safe passage of pedestrians, including children, across the road at designated locations
- C arry out the Council’s policy with regard to the SCP service which includes Health and Safety Procedures
- Use all uniform and equipment provided for the safety for the safety of yourself, children and all other members of the public, especially when stopping traffic on the Highway.
- Maintain control over children who are awaiting instructions to cross
- Report any problems of difficulties to the Manager of the SCP service.
- Attend any training required for the job

**What we are looking for**:

- A good understanding of road use and traffic awareness
- To be physically able to move on to and off the road (Average walking speed 3ft per second) and stand throughout duty period (more than one hour)
- To be able to work in all weather conditions
- To be physically fit and able to deal with emergency traffic situations as they relate to the crossing of pedestrians and themselves
- To be physically and mentally able to judge and foresee dangerous situations
- To be able to look and see unsafe traffic situations in all directions
