Liverpool, United Kingdom Everton Football Club Full time

We are a football club with a desire to be the best and are always looking for talented people to join our Everton Family.
- Everton is a workplace people crave to join, where extraordinary talented people belong, thrive and deliver the remarkable.

Senior Youth Worker

Who are we: Since 1988, Everton in the Community has become a dynamic force for good, harnessing the unifying power of football to drive social change and addressing societal challenges across Liverpool City Region. Supported by a team of over 130 full-time staff and over 200 volunteers, the independently governed and independently financed charity offers an extensive array of more than 60 programmes and initiatives that tackle a diverse range of social issues. These programmes cover areas such as health, employability, anti-social behaviour, crime, exploitation, education, dementia, and disability.

Everton in the Community stands firmly beside the most at-risk and most in need members of its local communities, but the needs of the city are ever-growing and ever-evolving.

Everton in the Community’s five-year strategy, the Trinity Project aims to bring transformational change to Liverpool 4 and beyond and will work to nurture confidence in others by creating opportunities that can profoundly change lives through three powerful pillars in Learns, Minds and Thrives.

About the opportunity: Everton in the Community is seeking to appoint a Senior Youth Worker to join us in developing our youth work offer and targeted support across the area of Youth and Support, with specific focus on targeted areas in line with current funding schemes.

You will work alongside key stakeholders to plan, implement and coordinate a programme of delivery across our targeted sites that is of the highest standard and meets the needs of our programme participants.

This role sits under our Everton in the Community’s Thrives pillar, which is committed to empowering individuals to reach their full potential through an array of programmes that harness the power of football, life skills and bespoke support.

Thrives delivers a comprehensive life course support within Liverpool 4 and beyond and works to inspire and empower young people and adults to pursue positive change, live healthier lives and transition from surviving to thriving.

The cost-of-living crisis is causing an increasing number of families across Liverpool to fall into poverty. Nearly a quarter of local children come from low-income households and youth homelessness has reached record levels across the UK whilst one in four Liverpool citizens have a disability and are facing barriers within sports, education, employment and social participation.

Other key responsibilities will include:

- Leading, developing and co-ordinating engaging and robust timetable of activities in our targeted areas, inline with funding from Steve Morgan Foundation, Premier League and Merseyside Police
- Working with participants creating opportunities for volunteering as well as supporting young people into positive pathways
- Planning and deliver social action projects with a particular focus on sustainability collecting evidence of this in line with current funding.
- Coordinating a programme of experiences and events that young people can access during half terms, including residentials, accredited awards e.g., Duke of Edinburgh, tournaments and trips
- Identifying potential media opportunities and communicate to Youth Inclusion Manager, key stakeholders and central management team.

Safeguarding
- To understand the Club’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines.
- To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an Anti-bullying environment.

Who we are looking for: We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate experience in working with young offenders, young people at risk of offending or individuals displaying challenging behaviour, who is confident to manage challenging behaviours, and can adapt to different styles of communication and can motivate and inspire young people to achieve their potential.

This is an exciting role for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and their growth.

The closing date of this advert is Monday 11th December 2023.

This position will be offered on a fixed term contract up until January 2025, with the role being based across our Everton in the Community campus.
