Induction of Labour Co-ordinator

This role will involve acting as the administrative lead for all induction of labour bookings within the hospital and ensure the diary is maintained and kept up to date at all times, escalating capacity concerns to the relevant clinician. Ensuring daily review of the electronic booking of inductions using the K2 system and the electronic diary. The postholder will be required to liaise with the Antenatal Midwife In Charge, Labour Ward Co-Ordinator and Antenatal Clinic Manager to gain a good oversight on capacity and flow of inductions through the unit.
The postholder will be required to have good oversight on capacity and flow of inductions through the unit, as well as offering continuity of contact for women booked and undergoing induction of labour.
The successful postholder will be involved with service improvement initiatives by reporting monthly data to the senior Midwifery team.
Funding has been secured for this exciting opportunity and new role for an Induction of Labour Coordinator for a fixed term of 12 months.
This is an exciting opportunity and new role for an Induction of Labour Co-Ordinator to work closely with the Midwifery team who are providing clinical care for a fixed term of 12 months with a view to becoming a substantive post. It is anticipated that during this 12 month period an introduction of an exclusive Induction of Labour team will be established and the postholder will work closely within the team.
1. Oversee the availability of induction of labour within the electronic diary and escalate capacity concerns to the relevant clinician.
2. Assist both Labour Ward and Ward 24 Ward Managers and Midwives in co-ordinating the expected admissions on a daily basis.
3. Organise interpreters if required on the day of admission to ensure Induction of Labour is fully explained and women consent correctly.

1. Organise interpreters if required on the day of admission to ensure Induction of Labour is fully explained and women consent correctly.
2. Monitoring those women booked for high risk induction on the Labour Ward to ensure forward planning and timely liaison with the clinical team to minimise risk if these patients are unlikely to be accommodated.
3. Women who have their induction of labour delayed for any reason, to liaise with Fetal Wellbeing Unit and Labour Ward Triage to arrange daily monitoring until they can be accommodated, and Outlook calendar updated.
4. To undertake other administrative tasks to support the Maternity team for example assisting the Ward Clerks to complete data collection, filing, photocopying, collection of patient notes, this is not an exhaustive list.
5. Responsible for own actions, ensuring patient interactions are communicated if relevant to the Midwifery team.
6. Show dignity and respect in dealings with patients, staff and visitors.
7. Utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient data.
8. Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
