Manchester, United Kingdom Regulator of Social Housing Full time

**Summary**:
We are looking for two Assessment Officers to join us in brand new roles at the Regulator of Social Housing, joining our frontline assessment team in engaging with registered providers and developing high-quality regulatory intelligence to support our wider work.

As an Assessment Officer, you will work with others in our frontline team to help them provide a first-class service to all stakeholders who contact the regulator, including tenants, registered providers, and elected representatives. You will be responsible for providing clear and transparent communication with those who contact us.

You will be responsible for recording and analysing regulatory intelligence we receive from different sources, including tenants. You will assess and respond to concerns raised with the regulator about registered providers, and will ensure an appropriate escalation of cases to our regulatory engagement teams. You will manage a broad and varied caseload of assessment and engagement.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we grow and change to take on additional powers and responsibilities around the importance of safe, decent homes for social housing tenants and on landlord transparency and accountability.

You will be part of the regulator’s frontline assessment team, ensuring a proportionate and risk-based approach to our casework, and managing cases in line with quality and service standards.

Your work will positively contribute to the effective regulation of registered providers by providing first-class regulatory intelligence.

Leading a multi-disciplinary team, you will ensure resources are appropriately deployed to deliver our regulation in a way that is consistent, reasonable and proportionate.

You will be also responsible for managing contact from a wide range of stakeholders, including tenants and tenant groups, registered providers, elected representatives and other statutory bodies including the Housing Ombudsman, and will ensure our decisions are communicated to stakeholders in a clear and transparent way.

**Responsibilities**:
You should have a track record of managing relationships with regulated providers at senior levels and experience of handling complex and contentious issues with stakeholders in a tactful but robust manner. You may also have a good understanding of the strategy and operations of registered providers, particularly in areas of governance, risk management, landlord services and tenant engagement.

Your written and oral communication skills will be excellent and effective at reaching wide range of audiences. You will bring strong analytical and evaluation skills which demonstrate you can exercise sound professional judgement and reach robust conclusions.
