**Job description**:
The Department’s Board Secretariat Team is looking for a highly motivated individual to drive the function and development of the team, which is at the heart of the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Governance Division, that sits within the Department’s Strategy, Private Office and Governance Directorate.

The role focuses on delivering effective governance, excellent customer service and support to the full range of the Department’s committee meetings and sub-committees, amongst other key responsibilities.

**_ Roles and Responsibilities_**

**_ You will:_**
- Act as joint Head of the Board Secretariat Team, supporting the Grade 6 in delivering a strategic, professional and excellent programme of committee meetings across the Department.
- Lead the delivery of the Board and its sub-committees in line with the Corporate Governance Code
- Develop smarter ways of working to improve efficiency and delivery.
- Build and develop strong working relationships across the whole Department.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will need to be highly adaptable and flexible, adjusting to the requirements and strategic direction of the business. You will have excellent verbal and written communication, with experience of minute taking.

You will be an engaging leader and trusted adviser, with the credibility and experience to lead a team to deliver quality outcomes. You will encourage and support the team whilst recognising and appreciating challenging demands and deadlines.

You will have outstanding interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships with internal teams and senior leaders across the group

**Further information**:
You will have the option to be based in our London office attracting the London salary, or in Leeds or Birmingham attracting the National salary. If based in Leeds or Birmingham, weekly travel to our London office will be required for key meetings and team events.

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
