Healthwatch Solihull Office / working from home by
Location: arrangement.
Hours of work: 37 Hours per week
**About Healthwatch Solihull**
Healthwatch Solihull believe everyone deserves the best possible care. We fight health inequalities by giving people a voice in improving the health and social care services they use, and work with services to ensure long-lasting benefits for patients.
We have recently investigated the experiences of health and social care of people with prostate cancer, as well as of people who try to access Urgent Care in Solihull.
We also reported on how the cost-of-living crisis has affected health and social care for our residents. All our investigation reports can be found on our website.

We also run an Information and Signposting service helping people to find the best care and support they need for their personal situation. We are independent of the
NHS and social care services.
**Context of role**
The role of the Research and Data Officer at Healthwatch Solihull is critical to our success. Your role is central to Healthwatch Solihull’s ability to collect, record and use high-quality feedback to lever positive change in Solihull health and social care services. It is your role to ensure our investigations, consultation responses and data analysis are delivered on time and of high-quality. Through the prioritisation of topics of investigation, you will design and lead on the successful completion of our investigations, producing reports that influence decision-makers to change services leading to impact for Solihull citizens.
**Duties and responsibilities**
1. Lead on investigations that positively impact health and social care services in
Solihull.
2. Monitoring and recording the impact of projects.
3. Lead on development of systems to store, analyse and report data.
4. Input, moderate and analyse all health and social care service user experience data heard by us on our databases.
5. Share service user experience data with health and social care organisations through the production of reports in innovative ways (e.g. using Power BI to produce interactive reports).
**Required skills and experience**
**Essential knowledge, skills and experience**:
1. To have led on health service and/or social care research investigations, including interviewing people, constructing online surveys, analysing and reporting the data.
2. Experience of maintaining a database.
3. Excel: Intermediate skill.
4. Accurate and fast data entry skills.
5. Able to analyse patient experience data to identify key issues.
6. The ability to clearly communicate complex information; stimulating, interesting and motivating the audience in writing and verbally.
7. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to managing several projects simultaneously of a range of complexity and type, to successful completion.
**Essential knowledge, skills and experience**:
8. Excellent people skills; mature and credible, with the ability to develop trust and respect with NHS and Social Care leaders and with the public.
9. A good understanding of local and national health and social care policy which are relevant to the work and role of Local Healthwatch and of Healthwatch
Solihull.
10. Demonstrable evidence of personal values being aligned with Healthwatch
Solihull’s values, mission and ambitions.
11. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
**Desirable knowledge, skills and experience**
12. Knowledge of Power BI.
13. Experience of developing a database.
14. Experience of conducting health or social care research projects or service evaluations.
15. Ability to build good working relationships with a range of external organisations.
16. Able to demonstrate a high value on the role of volunteers to support non-profit organisations to improve the health or social care of clients.
17. Consistent and multiple evidence of going the extra mile to get the job done well.
18. Understanding of and experience of monitoring and achieving organisational outcomes.
19. Understanding of and commitment to working in a continuous quality improvement organisation and what that means in practice.
20. Proven skills in innovation and problem-solving.
21. A detailed understanding of GDPR and data security
