We currently have available an exciting opportunity for a Professional Lead within our Payroll Team. This is a temporary/secondment full-time role until 31stDecember 2023.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, with the ability to deliver change, support the team to deliver a top-class payroll service, together with strong communication skills and a high regard for customer service.

**LIVE **WORK** SUPPORT**

Wiltshire Council HR & Payroll Service delivers a comprehensive payroll service to the internal employees of Wiltshire Council and many schools and academies making more than 40,000 payments per month. The service is currently midstream of a significant project which includes a total delivery review. The project will have a large impact on the authority’s payroll service and will offer service improvements to both its employees and customers.

**About the**

The postholder will play a key role in ensuring all work processed by the team complies with all relevant legislation/critical timescales in liaison with the HR Payroll and Systems Development Manager and Operational Professional Lead to ensure that compliant and timely payrolls are delivered.

You will support the HR Payroll and Systems Development Manager in the long-term development and delivery of payroll for the council from both from a technical (HR/Payroll systems development and compliance) and a legislatively.

The role will contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures ensuring a cost effective and efficient service is offered to both WC and its traded customers working with other services in HR & OD ensuring a joined-up approach.

This will also include full engagement in the delivery/benefits realisation of the implementation of Oracle Fusion and the changes required for the team, employees, and customers of the service.

**About you**
Ideally a degree or higher diploma in relevant profession, such as Payroll accounting, business or finance or equivalent experience/skills, or at a minimum to hold a Level 3 qualification in management or have equivalent relevant management experience - ideally working towards a level 5.
- Excellent understanding of payroll principles and practices.
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organisation and its stakeholders, including a high level of written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to improve processes for the benefit of an organisation and customers.
- Excellent team working skills, ability to lead teams and develop partnerships with stakeholders.
