Marketing Communications and Outreach Officer

media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin. They will co-design all

campaigns including content creation, promoting WIC’s Public Profile and community

community groups, local schools and colleges.

Roles & Responsibilities

Ø Design and manage the marketing plan, highlighting key campaigns and events

Ø Manage all social media, publicity and videos, including direct external communication

Ø Contribute strategically, working collaboratively with colleagues with internal

communication, design and editorials

Ø Produce original and innovative higher education content, keeping the tone of voice in

mind and upholding WIC’s mission, vision and values

Ø Regular and ad-hoc publishing of content for all relevant social media channels

Ø Ensure marketing and communication messages are accurate and relevant

Ø Liaise with partner organisations on approval of content/branding where necessary

Ø Monitor and respond to comments, messages and queries received over social media

Ø Identification of opportunities to participate in education-related trends and incentives

Ø Liaise with external education and outreach organisations representing WIC’s provision

Ø Develop and execute relevant outreach activities with schools and colleges to highlight

WIC and wider HE opportunities

Ø Highlight social media trends and developments

Ø Conduct regular audits of all social media accounts

Ø Monitor, evaluate and report on all social media and outreach campaigns using various

metrics and analytics

Ø Support academic, admissions and registry colleagues during key student events across

the year

Reports to Academic Registrar/Student Services Manager

Hours 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE)

Salary band £30,000 - £35,000

Location Office based -Barking, IG11 7NR, UK with occasional travel to other campuses as defined by business needs

Person Specification

Essential - The post holder must have:
Ø Bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline

Ø Experience in outreach activities - schools or community groups (1-2 Years)

Ø Experience in Marketing and Corporate Social Media communications (1-2 Years)

Ø Commitment to diversity, equality, inclusivity and safeguarding

Skills and Experience - the post holder should be able to demonstrate:
Ø Active interest in current developments in education and the student experience,

particularly higher education

Ø Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with

people at all levels

Ø A passion for promotion and outreach activities with young people

Ø A passion for social media and its positive contribution to communications

Ø Creative thinking

Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to confidently

communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including editing and proofreading

Ø High standards of best practice of Accessibility of communications

Ø High standards of IT skills, with knowledge of MS Office, and ability to quickly learn new IT packages

Ø Ability to work on own initiative, to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities

Ø Excellent organisational skills

Ø A positive, proactive, professional approach and ability to mentor others where appropriate.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
