**Salary**: Salary in the region of £38,000 per annum.

The Role

The Governance Officer will be responsible for facilitating and overseeing effective governance activities across the service to ensure robust planning and risk management is in place to support NUIT activity. Proven expertise in curation and management of service-wide policies, procedures and standards and a positive approach to the management of risk are essential to actively enable the IT service to operate effectively.

Key Accountabilities
Lead the analysis, specification, design and implementation of best practice governance processes and procedures across NUIT to ensure that delivery is consistent, effective and transparent.
Curate and maintain the definitive record of NUIT policies, procedures and standards, ensuring regular review schedules are in place and appropriate approvals are recorded.
Lead NUITs risk management activity, actively maintaining the departmental risk register and ensuring that risks are proactively managed at an appropriate level.
Coordinate the production of NUIT’s annual plan and act as a focal point for the consolidation of section/team plans.
Provide assistance to colleagues in NUIT and the wider University regarding IT governance related matters, including representing the team on projects.
Identify areas of opportunity and need within NUIT’s Governance and lead / contribute to improvement activities.
Produce learning materials, documentation and standards and deliver training to increase the awareness and acceptance of best practice processes within and outside of NUIT.
Ensure that clear and timely reporting mechanisms are in place to evidence the effectiveness and adoption of NUIT policies and procedures.
Provide input to internal planning, budgeting, documentation and change control procedures to ensure the provision of smooth running, resilient and reliable services.
Any other reasonable duties that fall within the scope of the post, as allocated by the line manager.

The Person

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Proven ability in documenting complex processes
Experience in curation and management of governance materials (policies, procedures and standards)
Experience of best practice risk management approaches and methodologies
Data manipulation skills with experience of producing and maintaining management reports
A broad understanding of the IT landscape in a large and complex organisation
A high standard of written English

**Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s degree, an equivalent professional qualification, or equivalent professional experience
