SF Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join an established and reputable business in Alfreton on a 6 month contract. There can be the option for hybrid work once trained in the position.
The Finance Assistant is responsible to the Financial Accountant, working as part of the Finance Team carrying out the day to day processing of all accounting data, including income and expenditure, and operational control procedures enabling the Finance Departmentto provide a first-class finance service to our stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities:

- Credit Control (new customers and current invoicing)
- Liaise with Commercial Team and Insurers appropriate customer credit limits
- Contacting customers by various communication methods in order to maximise cash flow and reduce the risk of default
- Liaison with Commercial Team about overdue debts and taking appropriate action to enable recovery
- Allocate BACS and cheque receipts promptly to the correct customer accounts
- Sales invoicing
- Weekly report on overdue debtors, particularly in respect of critical areas
- Administer supplier payments, including BACS, cheques, foreign currency transfer
- Maintain banking records in respect of suppliers
- Monitor and record all bank balances daily in the daily cash flow forecast.
- Manage petty cash function including issue petty cash to staff and administer returns and receipts.
- Transfer funds between bank accounts as directed by line manager
- Invoice financing management
- Assist other members of the Finance team in preparation of monthly accounts
- Assist with half year and year end external audit requirements and dealing with queries.
- Maintain insurance database
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the line manager or other Senior Manager.
Qualifications/education required:

- Good GCSE qualifications are required particularly in Maths and English.

Experience required:

- Previous experience working in a varied accounts position
- Excel and Word to intermediate level
