Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Trust is looking to recruit one 0.5 WTE research midwife, in an exciting developmental opportunity.

This project will evaluate the psychometric and clinical properties of the Fear of Childbirth Questionnaire (FCQ) assessing validity and reliability, and examine feasibility of routine use in maternity services and explore acceptability for women and midwives. This project will provide a simple method of accurately identifying fear of childbirth, enhancing access to existing support. This will help women to experience pregnancy without disabling levels of fear, benefitting their mental health and infant development. It will benefit services by preventing fear-driven costly interventions and benefit society by reducing costs from untreated perinatal mental health conditions.

Internal secondments may be considered but applicants MUST SEEK APPROVAL from their substantive clinical line manager FIRST.

The role will be central to the day-to-day management of research activities, including recruitment, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, liaison with public advisors and clinical staff at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, and dissemination activities. The postholder will join a multidisciplinary team of experienced clinicians and researchers from The University of the West of England, University of Liverpool and Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. This study is funded by NIHR Research for Patient Benefit Research Grant. The role will further develop research capacity, contributing to your own development as an autonomous research practitioner.
