Pre Term Birth Midwife

This specialist role is designed specifically for the needs of pregnant women who are at high risk of premature birth.
The post holder will work within the Preterm Birth service, which is run by the lead consultant obstetrician and supported by specialist obstetricians. This service is also supported by the wider multidisciplinary team and care professionals.
The Pre-term Midwife will be responsible for the triage and management of referrals, liaising with the women be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of Pre-term Birth care across the maternity and neonatal service at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital Harris Preterm Birth (PTB) clinic.
- To report to the Maternity Matron for Outpatient services and be responsible for ensuring that the preterm birth service is offered and delivered appropriately to the cohort of women who are at high risk of preterm birth.
- Be responsible for the delivery of the day-to-day Pre-term birth service as part of the Multi-disciplinary team, taking a lead in case loading the Liverpool Womens’ Hospital Harris Preterm Birth (PTB) clinic women
- Ensure the provision and continuing effectiveness of the Pre-term Birth Clinic in line with the Trust Guidelines, Policies and national standards. Regularly liaise with multi agency stakeholders
- Assist with delivering quality improvements to the service
- Take responsibility for Key Performance Indicators and report writing to demonstrate compliance with a variety of care quality indicators
- Develop own management and leadership skills
- Be responsible for triaging referrals, liaising with women and families, and leading on Quality Improvement and audit related to the pre-term birth pathway.
- Provide clinical and professional leadership in the Outpatients department and the preterm birth service.
- To be an active member of the Cheshire and Mersey preterm birth network.
