We are delighted to be working on behalf of a leading manufacturer of quality, high end products. They are one of the largest international manufacturers in their sector, and have an impeccable reputation for their design and quality.

They are part of an International Group, consisting of other major brands, therefore providing strong financial stability and wide market recognition. They now require a Purchasing Manager to join them on a full time and permanent basis.

You will be working with the Purchasing team to assist with the procurement of all products to satisfy the requirements of the production plans.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Leading the purchasing team in making proactive buying decisions that will positively contribute towards the company’s growth plans, strategy and policies
- Generating innovative ideas, both as brand-new initiatives and updating existing processes to effectively achieve business goals.
- Cultivating supplier relationships and always striving for: quality, cost-effectiveness and the best possible service.
- Manage inventory levels to meet production requirements.
- Maintain the procurement data within the internal MRP system.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Proactively reduce or mitigate purchasing costs, whilst maintaining the best possible quality.
- Review all payment terms to ensure that the best outcome has been agreed in line with the company commercial targets.
- Ensure that the production and customer demands are understood and adhered to, including the use of a review platform to forecast purchasing activities in line with sales plan for new and existing lines.
- Utilise insights and data to effectively control the inventory expenditure levels in line with production, sales and commercial activities.
- Oversee the management of the sourcing and purchasing activities for all externally sourced raw materials, packaging, consumables, equipment and services.
- Proactively manage the supplier relationships, communications and meeting structures, including reviewing the delivery performance of suppliers and conducting (as required) site visits to ensure supplier self-certification and risk assessment processesadhere to quality standards.
- Oversees supply chain management.
- To proactively represent the department during the New Product Introduction process.
- Maintain register and inventory transfers.
- Work closely with Stores supervisor identifying production shortages, place purchase orders for shortages / replacements and expedite best delivery time with suppliers. Communicate effect on Production to Purchasing, Planning and Production Managers.
- Carry out investigation into inventory shortages and complete necessary stock adjustments.
- Reconcile supplier’s delivery notes against purchase orders accordingly. Advise Operations Director of any items that may impact on production
- Monitor and expedite outstanding / overdue purchase orders, advise Operations Director of any items that may impact on production.
- Transfer weekly production plan data, and update Action Inventory / Forecast Spreadsheet.
- Maintain discontinued stock list and communicate to Purchasing, Sales Managers and Marketing
- Participate in 3 monthly stocktake
- Operate within Statutory Health and Safety requirements
- Review Bills of Materials for new and existing products, maintain inventory forecast spreadsheets, source new products and place purchase orders for production.
- Attend weekly "Change Control" meeting reporting any purchasing issues to Operations Director and agree implementation dates.
- Conduct all business and communications within CIPS ethical code and ISO processes.
- Oversee the creation and continuous development of purchasing strategy/systems/documentation and monitor their effectiveness.
- Participate in regular strategic meetings with senior managers and directors.
- Undertake any reasonable additional duties as requested by Operations Director.
- Improve & develop the purchasing department standing in the organisation, cultivating the internal stakeholders’ relationships

**Required skills**:

- 5+ years proven experience as a procurement professional, with a hunger for development.
- Previous experience within a fast-moving manufacturing setting (highly desirable).
- Collaborative approach to supplier negotiation, effective relationship builder.
- Proactive self-starter who can take the initiative on new projects/initiatives, but also incorporate the skills of the wider team.
- The ability to solve problems and make decisions as well as to think strategically and laterally.
- Positive and enthusiastic approach.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
- Exceptional organisation skills, thorough with good attention to detail.
- Time management skills and the ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and contract management skills.
- CIPS qualified or working towards final stage (desirable).
- Strong IT skills - advanced excel user, previous experience with working with an ERP/MRP system.
- The ability and desire to travel to other sites or suppliers.
