**Summary**:
This is an exciting opportunity for an Acquisition Safety & Environmental Officer to work on varied projects within Defence Digital.
The Tactical Systems Team is an organisation of nearly 400 people spread across 8 different sites who are responsible for the development, fielding and sustainment of a range of tactical communications and information systems used in the joint Land Environment.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. Currently, the team is hybrid working but in the office for 2-3 days per week.

**Job description**:

- Working to or mentored by an Acquisition Safety & Environmental (ASE) Manager, responsible for undertaking ASE management activities in projects governed through an established ASE Management System, working to achieve the ASE Programme.
- This post is focused on Acquisition Safety and Environment in a high profile (1-Star) Team.**Responsibilities**:

- Acquisition Safety and Environmental (ASE) Officers provide assurance to the team leader for the team they are deployed into across all Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management, through support provided to the Safety Managers.- Duties include assisting with the operation and co-ordination of work within an established ASE management system, ensuring it complies with current legislation, policy and instructions, and status of the project.- Undertake and develop; basic assessment and analysis of ASE risk, ASE cases, and ASE requirements in specifications and changes to the ASE management system to ensure it is current, including conducting an annual review.
- Understand the risks associated with projects managed by the post holder, be empowered to recommend their acceptance, if within project scope, or refer upwards (both via their own chains of command and with other stakeholder organisations) with supporting recommendations.
- Organise and co-ordinate ASE work within the 1-Star Delivery Team, specifically:

- Assist in the development and presentation for acceptance of ASE Management Plans
- Assist in the ASE reporting to the Defence Digital HLB on a monthly basis on the 1-Star Delivery Team and any further reports developed through the year:

- ASE Case Status Spreadsheet
- ASE Training Data Spreadsheet
- Equipment Related Accident / Incident Spreadsheet
- Class A & B Risks in Corporate Reporting Tool
- Standardised Reporting Tool in Corporate Reporting Tool
- Assist in internal audits of the 1-Star Delivery Team ASE System; and help host external ASE Management System audits.
- Attend incident sentencing boards for management of reported accidents and incidents; monitor all incident reporting databases.
- Where required, representing the 1-Star Delivery Team at ASE meetings, panels and working groups and related forums to ensure the equipment procured corresponds with ASE Management System procedures.
- Provide secretarial duties to the projects Safety and / or Environmental Panel meetings.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice on safety and environmental policy and process to project staff and contractors.
