Blessed with the Southwest’s wildest coastline and most breathtakingly beautiful beaches, Cornwall is one of the nation's most creative corners. Whether it's exploring the space-age domes of the Eden Project, sampling the culinary creations of a celebrity chef or basking on a deserted beach, you're guaranteed to enjoy the delights the county has to offer.
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust is a developing Trust situated in the beautiful county of Cornwall serving a population of around 500,000 people, its not surprising that with its beautiful coastal scenery Cornwall attracts around 3.5 million visitors each year, making it one of the top UK tourist destinations.
We seek a flexible, welcoming, and adaptable individual with excellent communication and organisational skills and most importantly, unlimited enthusiasm.
This is a full-time post.
To be the conduit between the Care Group Quartet and the front-line clinical teams within their area of responsibility. Skilfully translating the organisational and Care Group objectives into operational reality and leading their implementation across their areas of responsibility.
This role will take the lead on quality, safety and patient experience across the specialty area: Anaesthetics and Theatres. Contributing to the Quality Improvement Plan as well as contributing to the Care Group agenda and having a portfolio that reflects this as delegated by the Head of Nursing. The Clinical Matron will have responsibility for leading the RCHT Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Vision for the specialty, ensuring effective implementation of service objectives within the available resources.
To enable them to execute this responsibility the post holder is expected to provide proactive and visible leadership. Leadership will span four key areas: service leadership, people and personal leadership, quality leadership and collaborative leadership.
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We serve a population of around 500,000 people - a figure that can increase significantly with visitors during the busiest times of the year. We employ approximately 6,700 staff and have a budget of approximately £580 million.
We are a teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School.
The Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site is the base for medical and nursing as well as ongoing education for health professions in clinical and non-clinical roles.
Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, we are continually developing our clinical services as well as our facilities and are committed to maximising the range of specialist care that can be offered locally. Allied to this is a growing reputation for research and innovation.
