To provide a reception service to patient and visitors. To prove an efficient and high standard of clerical services to nursing and medical staff on the endoscopy unit.

You will be a first point of contact for the Directorate and responsible for the meeting and greeting of patients and their relatives who attend clinic.

You will be required to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a good eye for detail to ensure accuracy when inputting data onto the Patient Administration System.

To work as part of a clinical administration team to support a defined team of clinicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Provide an efficient general administration day-to-day support to the department. Duties will include providing a front of house reception service, collection and delivery of notes, filing, faxing and other general administrative duties.

The post holder will be required to work as part of the administration team and provide cross cover during periods of staff absence within their existing team and other teams within the Directorate as and when required.

This support should be provided during the hours of 8am and 7pm flexibility of the hours is essential

The unit also works cross site at Daventry Hospital the post holder may be required to support

To ensure that all patient demographic data [i.e. address, postcode, GP and ethnic code] are checked upon arrival to the Endoscopy Unit, to amend and update as necessary and record accurately on the relevant computer system/s.

To ensure that the correct Consultant and Speciality details are recorded accurately for each patient upon admission to Endoscopy.

Support all members of the team to make, alter and /or cancel attendances for pre assessment and or endoscopy procedure as directed in line with the Trust waiting list guidelines and rules.

Be the first point of contact for patient and visitors into the department.

Notify nursing staff that patients have arrived.

Ensuring all the relevant outcomes are entered and update the waiting list entry on the computer systems used within the Trust.

To ensure that hospital notes are available for the patient’s procedure.

To add referrals to the relevant waiting lists using the correct list names and codes.

To enter all admissions and discharges for all admissions onto PIMs daily.

To ‘meet and greet’ patients, staff and visitors into the Endoscopy Unit and to answer the telephone answering any queries.

Ensuring all the relevant outcomes are entered and update the waiting list entry on the computer systems used within the Trust.

To ensure that hospital notes are available for the patient’s procedure.

Ensure that all case notes required are stored in the appropriate area/shelf in a timely manner prior to admission. Stored in the designated secure areas in line with the Trust confidentiality and data protection policies

To be part of the administrative team and provide support to any other functions of the whole patient process as required.
