Certification Support Officer Job Description

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- CSOs will act in a supporting role to collect evidence under direction of an OV holding the Product Exports (PX) authorisation, to facilitate signing of an Export Health Certificate (EHC).
- CSOs can perform tasks to provide OVs with the assurances they require to certify products for export, for example (but not exclusively) carrying out inspections, checking identification of products and checking labelling against requirements. Anything that requires veterinary judgement is excluded. CSOs cannot sign an Export Health Certificate (EHC).
- Help the veterinarian to facilitate export certification of animal products only (i.e. products of animal origin (POAO) for human consumption and animal by-products (ABP)). CSOs are not authorised to provide support for the certification of live animals or germplasm (germinal products).
- Ensuring that all consignments meet the requirements of importing countries as detailed in the Export Health Certificate (EHC)
- Carrying out inspection and verification tasks and supervising and checking the loading of products
- All documentary evidence recorded by the CSO for supporting the certification process must be signed, stamped (using the CSO’s personal AHP stamp), and dated by the CSO, demonstrating that it has been personally attested by them. These documents must be submitted to the OV as supporting evidence before the OV can certify the relevant EHC. Any photographic evidence must be saved by the OV in its original format with original date and time details.
- The CSO must inform the OV as soon as they become aware of a potential conflict of interest. A CSO must not be involved in supporting the certification of any EHC where they may have a conflict of interest.
- Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with export customers and colleagues, paying attention to customer care and the promotion of the HallMark export service.
- Completing the required documentation in an accurate and timely manner
- Understanding legislative issues and the exporting sector in order to make decisions as required.
- Inputting data into company and other systems
- Contributing to staff training as required
- Abiding by company health and safety and biosecurity policies
- As part of a multiskilled position, other duties may be required, including carrying out inspections on farm and collecting samples of food products for sampling projects.

**Requirements**:CSOs must:

- Be in an official relationship of employment or contract to the OV(s) that they will be supporting.
- Have been trained and directed by the OV as to how and where any necessary evidence relevant to the requirements of the EHC should be obtained.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on delivering ethical customer care under scrutiny.
- A great team player who is both reliable and flexible
- A flexible approach to working hours.
- Driving licence
