We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Information Governance Officer to join our Information Governance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an inclusive team helping the Trust meet its obligations under data protection legislation.

This is a varied role and the post holder will be organised with excellent communication skills and the ability to re-prioritise as necessary. Working within a small team, this role is ideal for someone looking to develop their career in Information Governance.
- To be actively engaged in the work programmes of the Information Governance department across the full range of Information Governance (IG) and Data Security work areas.
- Assisting the Head of Information Governance & Assurance and IG Managers in the implementation of policies and procedures relating to the Trust’s Information Governance and Data Security Framework.
- To assist in ensuring that the organisation implements appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines in relation to Data Security, Data Protection and other elements of the Information Governance Framework.
- To lead defined areas of the IG work programme and be able to cross-cover colleagues in the team as required including:

- Management of the IG inbox
- Responding to IG Incidents, complaints or queries
- Co-ordinating FOI responses
- Supporting the registration authority function
- Acting as secretary to the Information Governance Steering group

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community focused provider of local and acute care, providing high quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley. With a turnover of around £700 million, we provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, University Hospital Lewisham and a range of community settings in Lewisham. We also provide some services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.

As an organisation, we’ve made significant improvements for patients and staff in the last two and-a-half years. This is reflected in our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection (from February 2020), which found improvements across the organisation and gave us an improved rating of “Good” in the Well-Led and Effective domains, in addition to the rating of “Good” that we had already achieved in the Caring domain. Our staff culture change programme has been key to the Trust’s improvement journey, as we’ve stabilised our workforce by reducing vacancy rates and improving staff retention. We’ve also significantly increased the representation of minority ethnic leaders across our clinical and corporate teams.
