Research Assistant Band 4

Organise schedule according to different projects, and prioritising work according to the needs of certain projects. Assisting with data collection, analysis, and dissemination. Contributing to and writing up research work for publication. Developing research objectives and proposals for own or joint research.
Presenting the research findings at conferences and events. Highlighting and resolving problems which may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines. Working on and delegate tasks on several different research projects and teams. Help to draft research protocols in collaboration with others.
Contribute to writing policies Regularly searching for research funding grants. Support with the delivery of NIHR Clinical Research Network Portfolio studies if appropriate. Reading literature in specific fields or specialisms to develop own skills on an ongoing basis. Exploring and using new research techniques and methods as appropriate.
Using initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, developing new research methods and extending the research portfolio. Using creativity to analyse and interpret research data and draw conclusions on the outcomes. To engage in continuous professional development and be responsible for updating knowledge and understanding in the field of study or specialism and for developing skills. Managing people and resources Provide guidance as required to support staff members and placement students who may be completing research.
Manage own research and administrative activities. Contribute to the planning of research projects in collaboration with others. Use research resources and workshops as appropriate. Liaison and networking To work in collaborative decision making within research groups, to include: Contributing to the production of collaborative research reports and publications.
Preparing papers and presenting information on research progress and outcomes to bodies supervising research e.g., funding bodies and consultation groups. Build contacts and participate in networks for the exchange of information and to form relationships for future collaboration. This may include other NHS trusts, universities, and voluntary organisations. 3.
Additional Key Requirements Communication Communicate complex information verbally, in writing and electronically Teamwork Actively participate as a member of any research project group. Attend and contribute to relevant meetings. Work with colleagues in a research capacity across the organisation, as required. Initiative, problem solving and decision making Analyse and interpret research data and draw conclusions on the outcomes.
Contribute to collaborative decision making with colleagues in any area of research. Ethics Ensure that all research complies with ethical guidelines outlined in Your Healthcare policies and the governing bodies of individual clinicians.
