Applications are invited for the post of Pathology IM&T System Specialist to work in the Pathology Directorate at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.

The job role is to work as part of the Pathology IT team to provide pan-pathology laboratory IT and data support and administration to Blood Sciences, Microbiology and Histopathology.

This is the perfect opportunity to be integrally involved in a refreshed and evolving Directorate at the beginning of a new chapter, and to be involved in shaping its long-term future, helping to create a quality focussed, modern, efficient and effective patient-centred Pathology service. With upcoming projects such as a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Digital Histology to Implement, alongside the Trust-wide Electronic Health record project.

This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week. A flexible attitude to working hours is essential. The team currently operates between the hours of 08:00-17:30 with flexibility on start and finish times. The role will be a mix of onsite working and remote working; however, the post holder will need to be onsite on alternate weeks as a minimum.

Main duties include providing IT support to Pathology systems and staff, maintaining continuity of service and ensure patient care at all times. You will be assisting the Pathology IT Manager with the delivery of day-to-day tasks and projects, taking ownership of work stream progress, and other elements of project support, under the supervision of the Pathology IT Manager, assisting and delegating work to Pathology IT Administrators and being the first point of contact for assistance.

The post holder is expected to maintain high standards, efficient time management, good organisation skills, the ability to prioritise whilst under pressure.

The post holder will manage elements of projects under a Project Manager and with assistance from Trust Project managers and Pathology IT Manager.

The post holder will ensure a robust system for ensuring all departmental documents and approvals are in place.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all day-to-day tasks are completed and for delegating non-routine tasks to junior staff.

The post holder will be the initial point of contact for all team queries and troubleshooting issues.

The post holder will need to have good communication skills to provide assistance to variety of users for complex information and tasks.
