This role will assist in the optimal management of trauma orthopaedic patients. To assist in the assessment, diagnosis, planning and delivery of treatment regimes.
- This position will play a key role in optimising complex treatment regimes, facilitating hospital discharge and preventing avoidable hospital admissions.
- This role will work collaboratively with AHCP Trauma Physiotherapy Practitioner.
- To provide Trust wide clinical nursing leadership in the management of trauma orthopaedic patients.
- To improve the efficiency of scheduling trauma orthopaedic surgery and support optimal utilisation of trauma orthopaedic theatre lists.
- In collaboration with the Clinical Lead, have a key role ensuring the service is driven by national and best practice standards such as GIRFT, Model hospitals, NICE.
- To strive to achieve the best practice tariff is met for all patients with fractured neck of femur, and any exception is investigated in collaboration with the trauma coordinators.
- To contribute to the organisation of multidisciplinary, patient centered care.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner within trauma and orthopaedics.
- To provide specialist clinical advice and support to patients and clinical staff within the Trust on the assessment, management and care of trauma orthopaedic patients.
- Provide education and training to clinical staff to support the delivery of specialist trauma orthopaedic care.
- To manage/ lead practitioner led clinics in relation to reviewing patients and play a key role in optimising complex treatment regimes.
- A key priority of this role is to drive the reduction in lengths of stay for trauma orthopaedic patients, as well as admission avoidance and optimising care of the trauma and orthopaedic patient.
- To lead on reviewing all trauma orthopaedic pathways in collaboration with consultant and MDT colleagues, embracing the digital agenda.

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.

- To co-ordinate activity within the Trust liaising with other health care professionals to ensure patients are managed effectively and efficiently through the trauma orthopaedic pathway.

- To be accountable for the planning and delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate patient care in relation to dedicated pathways of care for trauma orthopaedic patients.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner within trauma and orthopaedics.
- To provide specialist clinical advice and support to patients and clinical staff within the Trust on the assessment, management and care of trauma orthopaedic patients.
- To continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governance
- To ensure effective communication internally and externally in relation to trauma and orthopaedic patients.
- Provide education and training to clinical staff to support the delivery of specialist trauma orthopaedic care.
- To provide direct access for patients, either face to face or telephone
- To manage/ lead practitioner led clinics in relation to reviewing patients and play a key role in optimising complex treatment regimes including wound acre/ tissue viability.
- To undertake research relevant to trauma orthopaedics.
