An exciting fixed term or secondment opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dynamic and committed individual to join our clinical education team. We are looking to appoint a Clinical Education Practitioner who is an experienced registered nurse or midwife with experience of teaching and wants to help make a difference in the development and support of our clinical workforce. You will work as part of a team to support the development of evidenced-based clinical education and competence in line with within National, local and Trust policy and support staff including overseas nurses in their transition to working within the NHS and preparation for NMC registration.

This is a 12 months fixed term or secondment post for maternity cover.

Contributing to the delivery of core clinical educational programmes including
clinical induction programmes

Taking a lead in the planning and delivery of clinical skills teaching programmes

Support, coaching and assessment in the workplace for clinical team members

Supporting the delivery of the Care Certificate programme and supporting new care assistants in their introduction to the organisation

Supporting Assistant Practitioners in their transition to professional practice

Supporting International Nurse recruits through the process of transitioning to working in an NHS environment and obtaining NMC registration.

Working alongside project teams and specialists to provide tailored educational support to clinical teams as part of quality improvement and organisational change initiatives.

Supporting the Practice Education Lead and Clinical Skills Lead to develop new ways of delivering clinical education and assessment across the organisation.

Communications

Promote, demonstrate, educate and encourage excellence in non-technical skills including high quality, effective communication skills within our clinical teams.

Communicate with a wide range of staff using a variety of methods to promote and deliver educational opportunities

Attend meetings and working groups, including deputising for other members of the Learning and Development Team as requested, and contribute to the development of papers/ reports as needed.

Promote educational activities and programmes and act as point of contact within the organisation for queries and advice relating to these.

Responsibility for Patient Care/Clinical Duties

Demonstrate a high level of knowledge, skill and understanding of clinical practice within a range of clinical areas across the Trust, acting as a resource and role model to a wide range of colleagues.

Promote a holistic approach to care that is current, effective and research-based in accordance with trust policies and procedures in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Ensure the NMC and Trust standards for learning, development and assessment are implemented and embedded into nursing practice.

Work alongside clinical staff, providing support, coaching, role modelling and education.

Whilst supporting and educating staff, the post holder will continue to maintain a high standard of patient care, ensuring patient safety at all times.

Maintain an up to date knowledge base, ensuring personal academic credibility. To ensure that own practice demonstrates current clinical knowledge.

Engage in the development of clinical nursing/midwifery practices and to be responsible for monitoring and evaluating clinical activity in conjunction with other senior staff.
