Undergraduate Education Dept. & Dept. of Acute Medicine

Your duties will include assisting the undergraduate team in the delivery of the MBChB curriculum to 3rd 4th and 5th years during their attachment at the hospital.

During the course of the appointment you will be financially supported to undertake a teaching qualification and will have the opportunity to participate in the delivery and development of a wide array of simulation scenarios.

There will be a flexible approach to clinical work which will be discussed on an individual basis. The post has been designed to cover teaching within a broad range of clinical areas.

You will work alongside an experienced Acute Medical Team of Consultants, junior medical staff, ACPs, and Physician Associates as well as an experienced wider multi-disciplinary team.

The post-holder will be predominantly inpatient based on the Acute Medical Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital with opportunities to work in the Emergency Department and the Ambulatory Care Unit delivering same day emergency care and out-patient follow-up.

Undergraduate Team

Assisting the undergraduate team in the delivery of the MBChB curriculum to 3 rd 4 th and 5 th years during their attachment at the hospital.

Teaching medical students at the bedside is an integral part of the job however opportunities to utilize the clinical simulation suite to deliver teaching in a dynamic way will also be made available

Financial support to undertake a teaching qualification will be provided (i.e PGCert in Medical Education) and there will be opportunities to participate in audit and small research projects.

Acute Medical Team

Clinical responsibility for assisting in the investigation, diagnosis and treatment, under consultant supervision.

Expected to attend consultant ward rounds; present cases, and discuss the differential diagnosis and management; carry out appropriate practical skills with patients.

Responsible for maintaining a full clinical record of patients admitted to the ward; required to produce a written summary of the admission at the time of discharge; will participate in audit data collection, and attend clinical governance / audit meetings.

Provide middle grade support to the junior medical team.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
