Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Senior Clinical Fellow in General Surgery to join our friendly and supportive general surgery team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The post is ideal for surgeons who are planning an application for a national ST3 post.

Main Duties of the Job

The post is aimed at those with previous experience of working in General Surgery at a senior trainee level. The successful candidate will support in theatres, ward cover, HOT, on-calls, and clinics.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • On-calls, outpatients clinics, theatre sessions, and SAU/SSDEC
  • Ward cover

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • 12 months General Surgical experience
  • Completed satisfactory basic surgical training

Ability

Desirable

  • Ability to organise own learning and time initiative

Skills

Essential

  • Potential to cope with stressful situations and undertake responsibility

Desirable

  • Able to cope with stress and has leadership qualities
  • To be assertive and demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to be a team member

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB. ChB. or equivalent
  • MRCS or FRCS or equivalent
  • Current registration with GMC

Teaching & Audit

Essential

  • To understand the principle of audit
  • Teaching of medical students and other staff

Desirable

  • Evidence of participation in audit
