**Job summary**:
The Homeland Security Group (HSG) unites capabilities and expertise to deliver better outcomes, from the UK’s response to the most serious domestic threats - Terrorism, Cyber, State Threats and Economic Crime. The group will strengthen coordination and collective focus across a range of growing and overlapping threats, whilst remaining consistent with existing strategies. Working with partners, HSG will foster more transparent and sustainable collaboration between national security, law enforcement and other relevant communities to enhance capabilities and leverage our response to threats.

As part of the Home Office, the role of the Homeland Security Group is to:

- Support the Home Secretary to develop and implement strategies to keep our people and interests safe and secure.
- Build HMG capabilities to reduce national security risk.
- Reduce volume of, and harm from, economic crime, particularly for the most vulnerable.
- Work in partnership with public and private sectors in the UK and overseas to deliver better outcomes.
- Ensure legitimate economic growth and prosperity.

**Job description**:
Based within the Homeland Security Group and organised under Prepare Protect CBRN and S&T (PPCS), the Joint Security and Resilience Centre (or JSaRC) is the interface between the UK Security Industry and the Government. The Unit is a unique mix of civil servants and industry secondees from Trade Organisations, Primes (large companies) and smaller companies in the security sector.

JSaRC International is one of three teams within JSaRC. The other teams include Strategy and Project Delivery. The International pillar involves engagement and project activity in five priority countries and a regular drumbeat of high-profile ministerial priority international engagements. JSaRC works closely with other international teams across the HO, wider Government and at Post to pursue national security and prosperity objectives.

**Person specification**:
This is an exciting and stretching position, which provides a unique opportunity to contribute to an ambitious and high-profile priority deliverable for HSG. You will line manage one Grade 7 and two SEOs and work closely with UK Security Industry partners as well as partners across Government. The responsibilities of the role will be drawn from but not limited to the list below:

- Supporting a team made up of civil servants and secondees empowering them to deliver. Maintaining an effective team culture, providing direction on policies as well as prioritising and managing resources to respond flexibly to events and deliver on long term priorities.
- Contributing to the delivery of the Home Office’s flagship annual Security and Policing Exhibition, and using it as a high profile platform for international bilateral engagement.
- Overseeing prioritisation of security diplomacy for HSG by working with Ministers, HSG International, International Strategy, Engagement and Devolution (ISED) in Home Office and the Department for Business and Trade.
- Driving system change across HMG in acknowledging the importance of security diplomacy and at HMG engagements, advocating for its place besides defence capability-based diplomacy.
- Supporting Security Minister in their position as the governance lead for security capabilities.
- Leading on briefings for National Security Ministers, and senior officials during their international engagements.
- Overseas travel is part of the role and this is likely to increase in frequency. Travel and subsistence will be covered by the Department.
