**Payroll Assistant**

**Salary £19,572.80 per annum**

The Mercure Newcastle George Washington Hotel Golf and Spa is an independently owned hotel, golf and leisure complex located on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne. We have recently joined Mercure Hotels, a brand of Accor Hospitality, Europe's leading hotel group with over 4000 hotels. The Washington-based hotel offers a convenient location for visitors to the Tyne and Wear region with easy access to the major road network and within 15 minutes of Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland and Durham.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time payroll assistant to join our Head Office team. The hours of work for this role are based on 40hrs per week

**Responsibilities**:

- Calculating and processing employees pay entitlements on a monthly basis for 7 Hotels.
- Processing holiday, sick and maternity/paternity pay
- Produce weekly wage forecasts
- Process any employee Attachment of Earnings orders and ensure documents are sent to the accountant on time.
- Maintain Sage payroll system
- Issue P45’s and other tax forms
- Answer any pay related queries
- General admin duties relating to payroll
- Assisting other members of Finance and HR departments

**Experience required**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience of Accounting software i.e. Sage 50 Payroll would be an advantage however not essential
- An understanding of current legislation in areas such as tax
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and timescales
- Good attention to detail
