We have an exciting opportunity for a 12 month secondment for a clinical educator post to support the children's surgical services within Nottingham Children's Hospital

This is a great development opportunity for an experienced children's surgical nurse to gain new skills and competencies in supporting learners, preceptors, assessors and supervisors within the children's surgical footprint.

You will work closely with the children's education and leadership team to deliver bespoke education and training needs for staff working across the children's surgical floor and supporting the Division in education and training when required

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, confident, passionate about teaching and flexible in their approach, using their own initiative, with an ability to prioritize and work on multiple strands of work.You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be an exceptional clinical role model. Main duties of the job

Supporting the delivery of education and training to nurses and other healthcare professionals within the children's surgical inpatient and day case wards.

Develop and deliver on-going education, training and support for all members of the MDT.

Identify all opportunities for themselves and others where learning can take place, both formally and informally.

Maintain registers of training appropriate, support ward and departmental sisters/charge nurses to ensure mandatory training is compliant with Trust standard.

May be required to undertake a Nurse in Charge role.

To maintain the delivery and quality of services provided within the care environment including the care delivered, setting of nursing standards, and leadership of the team working clinically with staff where needed to help the acquisition of skills, knowledge, and competence.

Facilitate and support staff to set up and sustain improvement initiatives and projects.

Identify areas for development and improvement and take proactive steps to support any required changesSupport the measurement of the impact of training and education and new initiatives and projects

Nottingham Children’s Hospital is set within the vibrant city of Nottingham known for its many historical sites. The children’s hospital is housed within the Queens Medical Centre campus and has 116 inpatient beds across 8 inpatient wards covering all specialties.
We are a major trauma Centre, and the Children’s Critical Care unit works closely with the Emergency Department in providing front line care for trauma patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role is to lead and implement training and development support across the children's surgical footprint to maintain the high standards and the quality of care given to all children and young people.

To support the ward managers to ensure the safety and environment of the ward by supporting with data to inform performance reports for the wards offering assurance that the ward is safe, effective, well-led, responsive, and caring to the senior nursing team.
You will have effective leadership skills and the ability to be a positive role model is expected from this post at all times.

The post holder will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and through experience and knowledge be able to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance.

Working flexibly as a member of the ward team and supporting the ward clinically is expected in order to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.

The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and hold a degree level qualification.
