This is an exciting **secondment opportunity for 12 months** for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised individual to join/work within the Community Paediatric Team as a Clinical Support Worker (CSW). This is a new post for the Community Paediatric Service but is a role employed very successfully in other specialist teams across the local and national regions within the UK.

The post holder will be joining a developing ADHD service for children with neurodevelopmental conditions based at Childrens Development Centre (CDC), Nottingham City Hospital.

There is a requirement that the post holder will work on days when clinic rooms will be available at CDC - to be negotiated upon commencement of post.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Children’s Community Paediatric Team in providing high quality care. This is achieved by ensuring the ADHD QB assessment clinic is run as smooth and as efficiently as possible. For example; organising and running QB Test assessment clinics, and liaising with The Community Paediatrician’s, ADHD Specialist Nurses, East midlands Academic and Health Science Network (EMAHSN) and other agencies such as GP’s, education or social care.

The CSW is required to support training programmes for the Community Paediatric team, liaise with families in organising and running QB assessments for ADHD in the QB clinic either by phone and to assist in their enquiries about assessment status.

The CSW will be required to set up the QB tests in each clinic independently following training and complete observations reports of the children and young people during the clinic assessment test period.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the QB waiting list database and liaising with the Community Paediatric Hub appointments staff to organise appointments and completing audit spreadsheets to support service planning and operations.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills, including literacy, numeracy and IT skills. Previous experience of working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions is preferable and / **or in** Paediatric** **health care settings is essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

**Clinical**
- To support diagnostic assessments for ADHD by administering an objective assessment tool in clinic (QB testing) with support and collating information gained from this with other background information to support the neurodevelopmental assessment process.
- To provide the Community Paediatric (CP) multi-disciplinary team with the information gathered above to support clinical decision making about diagnosis.
- Support the organising of QB clinics at appropriate timing in the ADHD assessment pathway.
- To be competent in undertaking intense clinical observation during the QB test clinic.
- To be competent in physical monitoring of children and young people, such as blood pressure, pulse, height and weight.
- To liaise with the multi-disciplinary team and make them aware of any changes to a child or young person’s condition.
- To keep accurate and up to date clinical records.
- To carry out all duties within good practice guidelines.
- To liaise with families in person, by telephone or in writing as appropriate in relation to aspects of care, which have been pre-determined.
- Following appropriate training and, under the appropriate direct/indirect supervision of a member of the Community Paediatric team, set up and the undertake the QB clinic testing process.
- To assist with group education sessions about QB testing and support training of colleagues as required alongside the EMAHSN team.
- To liaise with EMAHSN team and NUH training teams around maintenance of clinic equipment and training with supervision.
- To refer any patient concerns to the Community Paediatric team.
- Act as the patient’s advocate ensuring that their best interests are met.
