**Job summary**:
The Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) was established to oversee all aspects of nuclear business within the MOD; responsible for all submarines (from their introduction to Service to their disposal), nuclear warheads, skills, related infrastructure and day-to-day nuclear policy. DNO consists of the people, equipment and infrastructure required to successfully deter the most extreme threats to our national security and way of life.
We are a mixed military and civilian team of over 600 people, with a strong ethos of expertise and leadership, and most importantly, a set of values that seeks to build and reward diverse teams.
This position is advertised at 36/37 hours per week Tacos Dependant
**Job description**:
The Warhead FBP is critical to achieving the finance vision of protecting, driving and adding value. The Warhead FBP has responsibility for ensuring Finance is included in operational decision making and building and sustaining business partnerships across the areas of responsibility within the Warhead Programme. The Warhead FBP supports the delivery of the Programme plan, objectives and outcomes.
Please note that for all roles, occasional travel to all of the sites will be required, along with occasional travel to a number of other sites around the country, with the possibility of overseas travel to France and/or United States in some of FBP roles.
**Person specification**:
The FBP is the finance expert who ensures that the associated financial and economic implications are considered to protect and drive value. They maintain strong relationships with senior and wider stakeholders, bring insight and influence through effective communication, and ensure Finance is considered in delivering against strategic plans and objectives. Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Steering and influencing senior leadership to make informed decisions that balance short term priorities (e.g. in year efficiencies) with longer-term sustainability;
- Working collaboratively with the PMO, Commercial and Sponsorship teams to enable the delivery of business plans and objectives;
- Supporting business cases by providing input into affordability statements, investment appraisals and proposals identifying and highlighting any potential issues across the areas of responsibility;
- Proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in the service finance provided by engaging with the Finance Strategy & Policy, Defence Digital, PMO to deliver those changes that could add most value;
- Driving financial performance against agreed targets set across the Warhead areas of responsibility; and
- Using financial, operational performance and economic data to deliver insight that both drives and facilitates effective decision making and continuous improvement. **Experience**

- Experience of in-year financial management and/or long-term financial planning
- Experience in the provision of financial information to support Investment Appraisals, Business Cases and Review Notes
- Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in leading and developing teams to deliver outcomes in
a high profile and demanding environment
- Experience of developing, drafting and presenting effective and technically complex financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders

The following would be advantageous but full training and support will be provided:
- Knowledge of central government accounting and budgeting
- Knowledge of defence and/or nuclear issues.

**Qualifications**:
- Qualified Level 4 - AAT or Certificate level CCAB/CIMA
