**Job summary**:

Established in April 2016, the Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) delivers nuclear capability to deter threats and protect our nation.
The DNO oversees all defence nuclear business (excluding operations) and is responsible for providing nuclear deterrence; sponsoring the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (all the organisations, programmes and people that sustain the UK’s nuclear deterrent); and advising on UK nuclear policy, planning and international co-operation on nuclear matters.
The UK’s independent nuclear deterrent has existed for over 60 years to deter the most extreme threats to our national security and way of life, and that of our NATO Allies. To ensure that we have a credible and capable nuclear deterrent for as long as the security situation requires, we are building four new nuclear armed submarines - known as the Dreadnought Class - and replacing our nuclear warheads. These renewal programmes will utilise world-leading technology and are a showcase in science and engineering, highlighting the prowess of British industry.

Within DNO, the Warhead Directorate leads the UK nuclear warhead programme which provides a stockpile of reliable, safe, and effective nuclear warheads to support the UK’s strategic nuclear deterrent now and in the future.

**Job description**:
Ideally we seek someone with professional experience in a Business Management and Improvement, Project Delivery or Planning / Schedule Management role. Additionally, we would like someone with energy, resilience and commitment to our Programme and its mission, who will help us lead and develop plan and schedule management practices and processes across the Warhead Group in line with established best practice.

**Responsibilities**
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Work with, and support, senior leadership,providing expert planning and schedule advice and guidance at portfolio governance boards, and associated portfolio reviews.
- Lead on the development and implementation of policies, strategies, guidance, systems, planning and schedule communications and stakeholder management practices. Working collaboratively and jointly with AWE, our lead delivery partner, to maximise effective and efficient working practices to increase maturity of planning and schedule management across the Enterprise.
- To work with related functional workstreams to support effective integration of planning and schedule management practices with requirements, risk management, reporting, change control, benefits management and governance.
- To support Cost Risk Analysis (CRA) and Schedule Risk Analysis functions within the PfMO
- The role is responsible for the development of the PfMO planning and schedule function resource strategy and design.
The role has line management responsibility for the PfMO Planning team.
**Skills**
- Professional experience in a Business Management and Improvement, Project Delivery or Planning or Schedule Management role.
- Planning or Schedule Management experience in a complex programme.
