**Job summary**:
At the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) our mission is to provide health security for the nation by protecting from infectious disease and external hazards. We are a trusted source of advice to government and to the public, focusing on reducing inequalities in the way different communities experience and are impacted by infectious disease, environmental hazards, and other threats to health.

As an Evidence Reviewer your role will be to assist and support the production of rapid evidence reviews using systematic and rapid review methodologies, involving screening of studies, data extraction, critical appraisal, and evidence synthesis. You will work within a review team, using software such as Endnote, Rayaan and Microsoft Teams, across a range of review topics and timeframes for completing reviews will vary from several days to several weeks. You will also support the translation of evidence, for example through supporting the production of tailored evidence messages, evidence summaries, development of reviewing tools, and mechanisms for sharing our reviews.

You will work matrix style with colleagues working on the provision of advice and guidance, both nationally and locally and may work with external partners.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working - this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. UKHSA have office locations across the UK.

This role can be based at one of our UKHSA offices/locations (Leeds, Manchester, Totnes, London, Horsham, Cardiff, Bristol, Nottingham, Harlow, Liverpool, Fareham, Gloucester, Newcastle and Birmingham) with opportunities for an element of working from home.
The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

**Job description**:
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

- Use appropriate tools to support the production of rapid evidence reviews including development of the search strategy, screening of studies, quality appraisal, evidence synthesis and write up
- Ensure that full and accurate documentation is kept and be responsible for the accuracy and security of all data related to projects which the post holder manages or is involved in
- Support team members and colleagues in all aspects of the review process, and quality assure work of colleagues
- Contribute to the ongoing development of rapid evidence review work and other professional activity procedures and standards, including training activities and working groups
- Support the development and delivery of capacity building for evidence synthesis and utilisation
- Actively contribute to collaborative decision-making in relation to methods and outputs
- Prepare papers for presentation at local, regional or national meetings, workshops and/or conferences
- Statutory training as required, i.e. fire safety, information governance and all other mandatory training.
- Undergo a programme of on-going development and education, including the annual appraisal process, to build on existing knowledge and develop skills to meet the behaviours and competencies required to undertake the role.

**Person specification**:
**Essential**
- Educated to first degree level or equivalent relevant experience
- Knowledge of, and interest in, public health issues
- Experience of compiling and communicating the results of literature reviews, internet searches and other
- Good oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Good understanding of research methods - practical knowledge from study or work experience
- Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight and often changing timescales
