**_“_**The Knowledge and Library Services team provide UKHSA with library and knowledge management expertise to support research and development, evidence-based public health, management and business services, with the overall aim of facilitatingthe translation of knowledge into practice.
The purpose of the role is to provide a specialist knowledge and evidence service, as part of the KLS team, to supportUKHSA staff, primarily in London and the South-East. This will include provision of advanced literature searching, knowledge managementsupport, and health and information literacy training”
**Location**
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working - this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. UKHSA have office locations across the UK.
This role can be based at one of our UKHSA offices/locations (Leeds, Manchester, Totnes, London, Horsham, Cardiff, Bristol, Nottingham, Harlow, Liverpool, Fareham, Gloucester, Newcastle and Birmingham) with opportunities for an element of working from home.
The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

**As the Knowledge and Evidence Specialist your main responsibilities will include**:
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:
- The provision of a knowledge and evidence service to UKHSA staff, in line with overall KLS policies and procedures
- To contribute to the strategic plans and development of UKHSA Knowledge & Library Services, reporting to the KLS Senior Knowledge & Evidence Manager/Head of Knowledge and Evidence
- Provide a dedicated enquiry and literature searching service to designated UKHSA teams
- To provide an evidence support service to local users, in line with the KLS central service in particular providing advanced response to library and evidence enquiries, contributing to UKHSA KLS search and enquiry triage systems where necessary
- Contribute to the development of KLS health and information literacy training programmes, and lead the delivery of the programme in the local area
- To contribute to the development and management of UKHSA KLS collection development strategies, including ensuring access to specialist resources for health intelligence (including digital outputs); including making recommendations for procuring resourcesto meet requirements
- To contribute to the continual review of KLS, undertaking user surveys and audits as necessary, and action planning from the feedback received
- Responsible for planning and re-design of knowledge & library services for the region as required in the light of changing user requirements and resources
- Provide knowledge management consultancy support for local UKHSA teams, contributing to the development of consistent approaches across wider UKHSA

**Person Specification**
**We are looking for an exceptional Knowledge and evidence Specialist**
**Essential**:
- A postgraduate qualification in a KIM related discipline such as knowledge management, records management, library and information studies, information rights, information science or information management, including those which have been accredited byCILIP or ARA
- Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals (CLIP)
- Demonstrable relevant experience in an NHS, academic or research library, information science or knowledge management professional role
- Experience of using health care or scientific resources, including excellent information retrieval skills, using a variety of platforms
- Experience of computerised library and knowledge management systems and resource platforms
- Experience in providing user education in information literacy and evidence-based practice, including critical appraisal skills
Knowledge of factors involved in provision of electronic journals & resources, and Web 2.0 developments and services
