**Specialist Mentor (Mental Health/Autism)**

**Clear Links Support is recruiting for One-to-One Specialist Mentors to support students with mental health conditions and autism spectrum condition studying in Durham.**

You will be working with higher education students to provide strategies to develop their skills in the management of the impact of the condition or impairment on their academic experience. To manage anxiety, to develop concentration skills, time management skills, to prioritise workloads and create schedules of work-life balance. This also includes skills in acquiring, recalling, and retaining information in written and spoken language, and strategies to develop memory, organisation, attention, and numeracy skills.

Pay: £28 per hour plus £3.38 holiday pay per hour.

**Specialist Mentor Mental Health role requirements**:
Applicants must have:
A degree

**AND**

Membership of a relevant professional body such as BACP, NCPS, HCPC, BPS, UKCP, COSCA, UMHAN. This is not an exhaustive list, please contact us if you have any questions about relevant membership.

**Specialist Mentor Autism role requirements**:
A degree

**AND**

Six National Autistic Society (NAS) online training modules:

- Understanding autism
- Autism and communication
- Autism and sensory experience
- Autism, stress and anxiety
- Autism: supporting families
- Autism and Girls

OR

Optimum Student Support training course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies

If you have a relevant postgraduate qualification such as a PGCert or Masters in Autism, you will still need to complete the NAS Autism and Girls online training module.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Zero hours contract

**Salary**: £31.38 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 25 per week
