Mechanical Building Services Engineer - Durham - £34k-41k

**Your new role**
In this exciting new position you will deliver a professional, customer-focused mechanical engineering support service to all stakeholders and facilitate the provision of an effective mechanical infrastructure. Key duties:

- Responsible for managing mechanical maintenance, improvement and new installation projects from inception to completion.
- Participate in design development process on capital, minor and refurbishment projects.
- Identify, develop and implement mechanical infrastructure improvement strategies across the Estate to maintain a stable, efficient and resilient mechanical infrastructure.
- Provide professional advice and technical support to stakeholders.
- Problem solving and project implementation, helping to motivate, mentor and coach project team members.
- Support service colleagues and stakeholders to interpret and resolve complex mechanical infrastructure/building services technical problems.
- Schedule and monitor mechanical design, maintenance and installation works.
- Provide regular status reports on mechanical building services installations and identify risk.
- Liaise with internal and external agencies, local authorities, industries and visitors, where appropriate.
- Responsible for monitoring and updating risk assessments and safety procedures.
- Develop, modify and optimise protocols and methodologies.
- Monitor and report on the performance of mechanical consultants and suppliers providing appropriate feedback to facilitate the review process and achieving optimum performance.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop excellent working relationships both internally and externally.
- Proven IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office.
- HNC/D in a building services/engineering related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Sound technical knowledge in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical engineering building services.
- Experience in a mechanical supervisory, technical manager or design engineering role.
- Experience in project management and contract administration.
- Regulatory, local and national professional knowledge and experience of compliance.
- Experience of being able to network internally and externally effectively.
- Ability to solve problems and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions.
- Experience of delivering and developing specialist services for buildings, estates, services, or IT provision.
- Ability to deliver infrastructure projects.
- Health and safety compliance knowledge.
- Competent at formulating and writing technical reports.
- Experience of implementing policy and procedures and involvement with future changes for a service area.
