Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is looking to recruit three volunteer Patient Safety Partners who will work alongside staff to influence and improve safety within the local health and care system.

Patient Safety Partners can be patients, carers, family members, or other members of the public (including NHS staff from another organisation).

The Patient Safety Partners will represent patients/carers/families within the three Integrated Care Board (ICB) areas that YAS covers:

- Humber and North Yorkshire
- South Yorkshire
- West Yorkshire.

This is a great opportunity to share your interests, experiences and skills and represent the patients’/family voice. Some examples of how you might be involved include:

- Supporting the safety training of staff
- Being part of project teams working to improve safe care
- Joining quality and safety-related meetings and committees
- Being involved in the implementation of the new Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and supporting learning from incidents.

**Your commitment will need to be**:

- A willingness to develop learning and work in collaboration with Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust to improve patient safety.
- The ability to review, digest and comprehend a range of information and opinions.
- A willingness to listen and to question until you reach the required level of understanding.
- A willingness and ability to provide a voice for patients, carers and relatives, and express views.
- The ability to reflect the different views and diversity of patients, carers and relatives, including those living with different conditions and from different backgrounds.
- To attend pre-planned meetings that require Patient Safety Partner involvement.

Flexibility in working hours is offered, as well as a full induction programme and ongoing support and training.

The Patient Safety Partner post is a new and innovative volunteer role in the NHS, however, involvement payments and reasonable expense payments will be offered.

In the first instance, the roles are fixed-term for 18 months with the opportunity to extend.

- Being part of project teams working to improve safe care.
- Joining quality and safety-related meetings and committees.
- Being involved in the implementation of the new Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and supporting learning from incidents.
