**Job summary**:
This role will provide you with an interesting and supported introduction to Project Management and Business Management. As a Business Support Officer, you will be responsible for a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the COVID Genomics Programme objectives.

You will help to support the smooth running of the PMO by assisting the operation of project management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on behalf of the PMO team.

You will be expected to support the Senior Business Operations Manager with activities such as communication across the business, maintenance of central project records and production of regular management reports.

**Job description**:
Specific duties of the role may vary depending on the site and teams/functions.
- Leadership & Delivery - Lead on business change activity and work with the project to support delivery of the Business Case benefits and outcomes. Champion the use of best practice and provide expert advice for team members and project community.
- Business Case - Support the Senior Business Operations Manager in preparing and updating the change management elements of the Business Case.
- Change Products - Provide input into creation of required Business Change products. Supports the engagement of relevant business/end users during this process.
Planning - Support the Project Manager in preparing and updating the plan.
- Business Readiness - Support the Senior Business Operations Manager and business / end users in identifying, qualifying, and updating business readiness criteria before implementation.
- Benefits Management - Support the Benefits Manager, Project Manager and stakeholders to identify and leverage benefits. Considers Benefits Management in all Business Change activities.
- Change Communication - Support Stakeholder Manager and Business Operations Managers to create and maintain communications plan in relation to Business Change Management.
- Monitoring and reporting - Support in maintaining project controls and in producing project reports.
- Stakeholder Management - Identify stakeholders, ensures their inclusion in stakeholder engagement plan. Point of contact for nominated stakeholders.

**Qualifications**
Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience at a similar level.
Project Management Qualification (e.g. Prince2 Practitioner)

**Knowledge and experience**
Experience as defined by type/level (not length)
Communicates effectively with project stakeholders and partners
Experience of maintaining good stakeholder relations and of working with others to achieve common goals
Experience of working in a changing environment
Working knowledge of the NHS and local and national government structures
Working knowledge of basic project management tools and techniques
Experience of managing projects
Knowledge and understanding of public health issues or previous experience in a similar role

**Skills and capabilities**
Ability to manage own workload, working within a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to negotiate, influence and engage with staff and stakeholders at all levels
Ability to lead as a specialist in area of expertise and provide guidance
Ability to assess user/customer/stakeholder needs and translate these into a product or service that meets those requirements
Ability to prioritise work and to deliver within set timescales
Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate keyboard skills
Able to line manager staff and to motivate them to deliver agreed objectives

**Other Requirements**
Able to travel throughout the region and country as required
Ability to supervise support staff
