Nottingham, United Kingdom Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust Full time

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest trusts in the UK, providing services to over 2.5 million residents and providing specialist services for a further 3-4 million people across the region.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Chief Operating Officer’s team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post-holder will be responsible for leading the Emergency Pathway Team and will support our Clinical Divisions to deliver on a challenging yet exciting Elective recovery agenda. This is a real chance for a talented and ambitious leader to influence patient experience and outcomes at a Trust level in an organisation with an excellent track record in delivery of Emergency access.

As an experienced leader, you will bring a well-developed track record of operational delivery in a complex acute setting alongside expertise in performance improvement and clinical transformation. Knowledge of Emergency pathways is an advantage; however the ability to influence across a large organisation, build effective relationships and drive change is more important in this key leadership role. You will also work closely with partners across the ICS and will be supported by an established team with great working relationships across the Trust.

**For an informal chat**: Contact Karen-Anne Holliday (0115 9691169 x80241) to arrange a call with the Deputy Chief Operating Officer

Supporting the Chief Operating Officer's Team and the Divisional Leadership Teams, the post holder will have operational responsibility for the Emergency Pathway Team and will work with Divisions to ensure that all Emergency performance targets including waiting lists, finance, workforce and service improvement targets are achieved. The post-holder will actively contribute to service integration and to the development of services, both corporately and across the Divisions and, where appropriate, the wider Nottinghamshire health and social care system.

As Head of Performance - Emergency Pathway, the post-holder will work as part of a dynamic team responsible for the development and delivery of Emergency access target plans, in conjunction with overseeing the implementation of the Trust’s Emergency recovery and restoration plan, leading key operational and strategic improvements. This is a significant and varied role requiring an inspirational leader who can work closely with clinical and corporate colleagues, both within the Hospital and across the wider local health and care system.

Have you got the energy and passion to help us shape the future of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust?

If this sounds like you, we need you

You will be joining a small, friendly Corporate Operations team with a strong work ethic. Every day will be different with a diverse range of projects ongoing at any one time. The team works flexibly in order to meet the needs of the business and to also provide a greater work-life balance.

**Leadership**:
To provide visible inspirational leadership so that all staff in the Site Team and those managing flow across the Divisions are engaged and motivated to support safe and effective patient care

To foster a culture that promotes openness and where people have the confidence to speak up ensuring that communication mechanisms are operating effectively in the Site Team and across the Divisions

To foster a climate of innovation and improvement for all services in the Site Team and across the Divisions, including encouraging staff to identify further opportunities for improvement

To support the Deputy Chief Operating Officer in the delivery of the strategic plans for the Emergency Pathway ensuring they are consistent with the aims and objectives of the Trust and ensure that the plans fully reflect the service needs of the Trust

To line-manage the senior Site Team (where appropriate)

To deputise for the Deputy Chief Operating Officer on matters relating to Emergency performance and more broadly, as required

**Operational Performance**:
To work collaboratively with all Divisions to support improvements in emergency performance and patient flow

To work with clinicians to ensure that professional staff have an opportunity to influence the management, planning of and development of pathways

To be responsible for daily operational management of the Site Team including performance, quality, finance and workforce KPIs

In conjunction with the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, to take responsibility for key elements of modernisation/transformational projects, including service re-design and any associated workforce change requirements

To support the Deputy Chief Operating Officer with the development and maintenance of robust performance management systems to support each specialty to deliver their operational performance standards

To hold specialties to account for the delivery of internal and external emergency access targets

To oversee the production of regular performance monitoring
