Financial Assessment Officer

**About The Role**:
You will be joining a friendly and supportive team and will learn about many aspects of personal finance, including details of the benefits system. Typically over the course of eighteen months to two years, you will become increasingly knowledgeable and thus independent in completing financial assessments.
The role is key in supporting users of social care and their families to understand the financial contribution they may need to make once it has been agreed that they have eligible social care needs.
Training is given and support is always available, and you will be continuously learning over an extended period as service users’ personal circumstances can be very varied, so you will be regularly coming across new situations. As you come across situations you have dealt with before, you will be expected to become increasingly independent.
You will be joining a friendly and supportive team and the role is key in supporting users of social care and their families to understand the financial contribution they may need to make once it has been agreed that they have eligible social care needs. You will be part of a team of eleven financial assessment officers.
The post is based at County Hall in Dorchester, though the post holder may be able to work from home some of the time if they wish, once they have received their initial training.
