The Specialist Neuro and TBI Rehabilitation Service provides neurological rehabilitation for adults following Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), acquired brain injury and long term neurological conditions. This highly experienced and supportive multi-disciplinary team includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Case Management.

You will work closely alongside an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist within the team. Regular supervision will be provided, as well as access to training and support to achieve your personal development objectives. Leadership skills, service development and research opportunities are well supported in the Trust, with in service training and one to one input from both the therapy service management team and clinical specialists across the disciplines.

Main duties of the job

The role of the cognitive behavioural therapist is well established within the team, providing assessment of psychological and emotional needs to inform a holistic rehabilitation programme.

The service provides community-based interventions in a range of locations including; clients home environment, workplace, general local community, and out-patient clinic areas. This will include travel across Nottinghamshire to provide patient intervention. Due to this, holding a driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential for the role.

You must have a passion for delivering patient-centred care and a desire to work jointly as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team. The ability to form good working relationships with the wider multi-disciplinary team and adopt a multi-agency approach is essential. You will also need to be computer literate, with a willingness to learn how to use of a range of hospital ICT systems.

There is an expectation that you will be actively involved in project work & engage in ongoing service developments, working closely with community colleagues to facilitate the ongoing rehabilitation of patients.

Therapies and Rehabilitation Services is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to.

Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists, and our other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical and support workers.

We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.

As part of an inter-professional team, provide a specialist clinical cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients referred to the Specialist Neuro and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Rehabilitation Service, supporting clients with traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury and/or long term neurological conditions.

To provide effective clinical leadership, training, advice, professional support and consultation to the multi-agency teams that are part of and/or provide services to neuro-rehabilitation clients with regard to emotional and behavioural management as part of a neurological rehabilitation programme.

Each member of the inter-professional team will contribute to the
professional knowledge and expertise, liaising where appropriately with other professions.

Essential criteria
- BSc (hons) in a clinical profession
- Appropriate professional registration (NMC, HCPC)
- Recognised post graduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Desirable criteria
- Member of relevant specialist interest group
- MSc or MSc module completion

Experience
