To ensure that we continue to give the very best care to our patients we need to train and develop our staff. Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has clearly set out what is expected of our HCA's and the competences they are expected to achieve.
All HCAs joining the Trust are expected to complete Care Certificate, work towards a level 2 recognised Healthcare award and maintain up to date mandatory training requirements.
The role of the HCA is to assist the Registered Nurse in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the individual needs of patients and their families.
The post holder is responsible for carrying out assigned tasks involving direct patient care in support of and supervised by an Assistant Practitioner/Registered Nurse, maintaining a high standard of quality patient care and staff morale through personal example, good conduct and appearance.
The post holder is expected to cross site work, at Warrington and Halton Hospital, working varied weekly shift patterns. The post holder may also be expected to work across other areas within the Trust when service demands.

3. Maintain clear accurate records of all patient interventions.
4. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues on a range of factual information and overcome any barriers to understanding.
5. Communicate effectively with patients and visitors by always showing courtesy. Answering enquiries within the limits of the role and referring more complex enquiries to appropriate staff.
6. Listen sensitively to patients and visitors who may be anxious or distressed and respond with sensitivity and empathy.
7. Prioritise own workload.
Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a caring and compassionate organisation that is both ambitious and innovative. We are committed to delivering the best outcomes for our patients and providing a positive experience of our staff. We aspire to be outstanding for our patients, our communities and our staff and are committed to being a great place to receive healthcare, work and learn.
Straddling the neighbouring boroughs of Warrington and Halton we are part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care system. Our hospitals are ideally situated to meet the growing healthcare needs of the 330,000 population of these boroughs.
Warrington Hospital is home to our emergency, critical care and maternity services, Halton Hospital is focused on elective procedures and the Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre, although many services are offered at both sites and in community hubs.
A CQC-rated ‘good’ organisation with ‘outstanding’ features, we are working towards university hospital status, having achieved teaching hospital status in 2019.
Our workforce of nearly 5,000 across both sites comprises more than 50 nationalities. We strive to be an equal, diverse and inclusive employer, which is recognised as a pioneer in its equality, diversity and inclusion work. The Trust is proud to have achieved numerous external accreditations and is working towards achieving the Anti-Racist Organisation Framework, recognising the importance of anti-racism in all that we do.
