**Salary: £24,457 Pro Rata**
(£18,343 for 30 hours/week)
**Contract Type: Permanent and Part-Time (30 hours/week)**

**Essential Requirements**:
The successful DVA Car Worker will:

- Have experience of supporting women, men and children as victims and survivors of domestic abuse
- Have experience of effective multi-agency and partnership working, person-centred service delivery and enabling client involvement
- Be able to work evening/night shifts and weekends on a rota basis
- Be a car driver with use of car for work purposes, with a full clean UK Driving License
- Have a Health & Social Care qualification equivalent to NVQ level 3 or equivalent work level experience

**The Role**:
We are pleased to announce that we have a vacancy within our team to deliver the Aurora New Dawn DVA Cars Project which has been funded by the Big Lottery.

This exciting and innovative role will see Paragon DVA Workers attending incidents of domestic violence and abuse in partnership with the police. The experienced and skilled post holder will offer practical and emotional support at the point of crisis to individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse. They will work in partnership with Police Officers from Hampshire Constabulary to provide a pro-active, short-term crisis intervention as part of the DVA Cars Service.

The DVA Worker will work across a rota for 30 hrs per week which will consist of working every other Friday and Saturday eve/nights from 17:00 to 03:00hrs alongside frontline police officers providing a crisis response to reported incidents of domestic abuse. The remaining hours are covering an out of hours DVA helpline responding to victims of domestic abuse which will require you to work from home covering shifts Monday to Friday (1700 - 0800hrs) or Saturday and Sundays (combination of 9hr 0800 -1700hrs shifts or 15hrs 1700 to 0800hrs shifts.

**About You**:
The DVA Car Worker will have:

- Knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children
- Knowledge and understanding of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
- Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of risk assessment and safety planning for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
- Knowledge and understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills that put people at ease.
- Excellent computer literacy skills and experience of working with databases
- Proven crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations
- Ability to be person centred, trustworthy, flexible and solution focused.
- Ability to maintain safe working practices and understand impact of self on others.

**Desirable Attributes**:

- You will be passionate about supporting individuals experiencing domestic abuse and skilled in identifying risk.
- You will be experienced in providing practical and emotional support to medium and high-risk victims. Co-producing safety and support plans to ensure interventions are appropriate for the level of risk.
- You will be experienced in working in a multi-agency environment and skilled at developing and maintaining effective professional working relationships for the best interests of the client.
- You will be skilled at working with crisis and be an excellent communicator.
