Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

Essential Requirements
The appointed Independent Domestic Violence Advocate will:
**1. **I work and support the Paragon team to deliver the service in line with the service specification, KPIs and **YOU** processes, policies and procedures
**2. **I provide practical and emotional support to clients experiencing high and medium risk domestic violence and abuse
**3. **I co-produce individual safety and support plans with clients and ensure the SMART actions are carried out
**4. **I complete evidenced based risk assessments, such as the DASH RIC, addressing the risk of harm to each person I work with, their children and wider family (when required)
**5. **I am part of a team who participates and contributes to MARAC, ensuring any outcomes are communicated to the client and incorporated into any interventions and risk plans
**6. **I work with internal and external partners to advocate on behalf of all victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse
**7. **I develop and maintain effective professional working relationships both internally and externally for the best interests of clients
**The Role**
Paragon Independent Domestic Violence Advocates work closely with people who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse and assessed as high/medium risk and where targeted and specialist support is required.
All IDVAs provide high quality advocacy and support, identifying other members of the family and children who may also be at risk.
The role involves multi-agency working and engaging with local partners and receiving referrals from and attending/preparing reports for court and other meetings such the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and other victim focused meetings.
You will be co-located within Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Housing Team to provide support to individuals who present as victims of domestic abuse.
You will work in close partnership with the Housing Team to ensure that victims of domestic abuse and their families are offered appropriate support to increase safety.
**About You**
This role will require a person with skills and experience to be able to deliver an excellent risk-based intervention, following completion of a nationally recognised risk assessment. You will be able to work independently designing individual support based on the wishes and needs of the clients - you will meet required Key Performance Indicators and be a skilled communicator with a desire to take your practice to the next level. You will be passionate and confident to advocate on behalf of each person you work with, accurately sharing their views and, when required, challenge institutionalised victim blaming language and practice. You will support the manager and wider team and use your skills, knowledge and experience to develop a service that meets national accreditation levels.
