An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Rugby Football League, the national governing body for Rugby League in the UK. We oversee the England Rugby League teams (men, women & wheelchair) programmes, the Betfred Challenge Cup Rugby League’s national knock out competition with its final at Wembley Stadium live on the BBC as well as the Betfred Championship and League One. We are seeking to appoint a Volunteer & Social Impact Officer based at our office in Manchester.

**Principal duties will include**:

- Recruitment - Attracting more volunteers at all levels of the sport without restriction in terms of background, culture & community.
- Retention - Increasing the retention of volunteers through working with the National Clubs Manager to ensure the existing workforce is adequately supported and upskilled.
- Support - Providing the tools necessary to ensure that our game is managed by a well-trained and motivated volunteer workforce and that this volunteer workforce is provided with unique opportunities to develop.
- Identify partners to support delivery and build and manage relationships with them.
- Where required, identify and secure funding to support delivery of activity.
- Develop and deliver training to volunteers and organisations to support the deployment of volunteers, ensuring high quality experiences for all.
- Work closely with Community Integrated Care and across RFL and RL Commercial departments to provide meaningful volunteer experiences for people with support needs throughout the year.
- Support the Inclusion Manager and Social Impact Manager through undertaking duties as required to support the delivery of the RFL Community Strategy as required.

**In order to be successful, you will need**:

- Proven experience of delivering volunteer projects including the recruitment, training, deployment and retention of volunteers.
- Great with people, with a flexible approach and an ability to influence.
- An excellent communicator, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Understanding of diversity and inclusion and the barriers to engaging different groups.
- Be able to meet tight deadlines and challenging targets/KPIs.
