**Job Purposes**

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Make a substantial contribution and to lead the on-going development and design of the curriculum in a manner that supports a research-led and scholarly approach in biomedical sciences, across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that promote an integrated understanding of physiology and related biomedical sciences.
2. To develop and promote collaborative models of course delivery that access the wide range of research and teaching expertise available across the College to enhance research-led approaches to teaching in biomedical sciences.
4. To establish and maintain a national or international reputation for scholarship in the biomedical sciences and to enhance the reputation of the School and College for excellent teaching in this area by publication and participation and attend appropriate seminars and conferences.
5. To develop e-learning resources and online activities that enhance student engagement and learning.
6. To support and contribute towards the planning, organisation, and management of undergraduate teaching activities in accordance with MVLS strategy.
7. To develop processes for assessment using a variety of methods and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning.
8. To develop effective working relationships with students and, in partnership with relevant student services teams, respond appropriately to the diverse range of learning approaches and learner needs.
9. To participate in local activities associated with student recruitment (e.g. open days), orientation and induction and other School and University initiatives such as support for student transitions, employability and student mobility as appropriate.
10. Engage in continuing professional development and activities as appropriate.
11. To undertake administration as requested by the Head of School.

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Sottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) or equivalent in an area of immediate relevance to the requirements of the post.

**Experience**

**Essential**:

E1 Postdoctoral or relevant professional experience.
E2 Significant experience of teaching, course coordination, and assessment.
E3 Experience in design, organisation, and management of innovative teaching initiatives.
E4 Reputation for excellence in the delivery of learning and teaching.
E5 A record of publication in high quality journals appropriate to the field or scholarship of equivalent significance.

**Desirable**:

F1 Contribution to the process of curriculum review/evaluation.
F2 Experience of the development and management of taught postgraduate programmes attractive to international students.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 8, £47,047 - £54,421 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
