**Temporary contract (secondment opportunity) for 3 months | 37 hours per week | £35,411 to £37,261 per annum (Grade J) | County Hall, Norwich**

The Alternative Education Service has two temporary opportunities for officers for immediate start until the 31 March 2023.

The service arranges interim education provision for children and young people who are under the Local Authority’s Section 19 Duty. Many of the children and young people the team supports have experienced exclusion from school and / or have come complex SEND needs.

Main duties will include:

- Liaising with parents and children and young people to understand their circumstances and specific learning needs
- Arranging appropriate education provision through an agreed directory of tutoring and alternative provision companies
- Monitoring provision arranged through regular contact with parents, children, young people and the education provider to ensure it is suitable and is meeting any identified learning needs

As a member of the Alternative Education Service, you will ensure Norfolk County Council is discharging its statutory duties for children who will not otherwise receive a suitable education in accordance with section 19 of the Education Act 1996.

Alternative Education Officers will manage a caseload and arrange suitable, high quality, full-time education provision for groups of children including those who have been permanently excluded, are CME (including those with EHCPs), and children who have an EOTA.
