**Health and Safety Officer**

**Permanent, full-time**

**Site based in West Brom, Includes ad hoc travel to other sites UK & I**

**£30,000 - £40,000 (salary is negotiable depending on experience)**

My client is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Officer with at least three years' experience working in a Health and Safety Management role and extensive knowledge of current safety standards, working to drive and improve Health and Safety across the business and promote a 'safety first' work culture. NEBOSH general certification and IOSH Certificate is required. This role will predominantly be Monday to Friday, weekend work is available, and night shift work one or twice a month.

**Qualifications and Certifications required**:
" NEBOSH H&S General Certificate
" IOSH Managing Safely Certificate
" Desirable SEMA qualified or qualified in racking inspection to equivalent standard.

**Requirements of the Health and Safety Officer**:
" You should be confident to motivate the team to achieve a safe working environment through practical measures. Equally, you will have the ability and enthusiasm to not only maintain existing Health and Safety processes but introduce new measures to drive forwards the development in these areas.
" You will have a pro-active approach and be comfortable managing large teams. You will be comfortable communicating with staff at a direct level and encourage open discussions around Health and Safety in the workplace.
" Comfortable being solely responsible for Health and Safety, however with the support and assistance of management within the business to work collaboratively toward mutual goals.

" Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

**The Role responsibilities**:
" Reporting collaboratively to the Operations Manager, Chief Operating Officer and Compliance Manager, you will work with the team to maintain Health and Safety standards across the operational site and Head office.
" Work collaboratively with the Compliance Officer on all compliance issues.
" Complete regular site audits of Health and Safety processes/practices and ensure the relevant actions are taken to improve highlighted areas.
" Complete all necessary site risk assessments.
" Responsible for investigation of all accidents/incidents and actioning, accordingly, liaising with HR department as/when required.
" Responsible for internal training such as SSOW and toolbox talks.
" Responsible for managing and overseeing external training requirements i.e. MHE certification, IOSH training, First Aid Certification, Fire Marshal certification and any ad hoc training as required.
" Responsible for reviewing and actioning the internal training matrix to ensure all training is up to date.
" Hold and lead monthly Health and Safety Committee meetings and assign responsibility to individual areas with assigned timeframes for actions.
" Manage all emergency processes i.e. fire register and roll call and evacuation plans and maintenance of contingency systems i.e. emergency lighting, fire extinguishers etc.
" Encourage a culture of safety consciousness by hosting toolbox talks with staff and promoting a practical hazard spot reporting system.
" Arrange annual racking inspections and internal inspections on monthly basis and actioning issues accordingly.
" Managing site contractors proactively from introduction including obtaining documents such as RAMS, insurance and method statements. Also proactively managing their workload and overseeing best practices working on site.
" Regularly review changes to HSE guidance and implement accordingly throughout the business.
" Liaising with insurance providers to arrange statutory thorough examinations on all equipment/MHE.
" Complete all COSHH assessments and maintain the COSHH register.
" Utilise use of external H&S working system Bright Safe.
" Develop and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and suppliers.
